This course is designed to introduce students to working in the booth in simultaneous mode. They will already have had an introduction to consecutive interpretation and know in what circumstances different forms of interpretation are used. Students will first be introduced to the simultaneous lab environment and to booth etiquette and then move on to pre-interpreting exercises before beginning simultaneous interpreting exercises.

The class is learner-centered: students are expected to participate actively each week, to record their work and to learn to critique objectively their own or their peers’ performances, as well as the professor’s demonstrations.
